Leiden University believes that it is good for young researchers to tell people about their research. Therefore, they offer a training programme that helps you explain your research to the public and gives you a platform to get your message out to the world. The programme is offered in collaboration with ScientistWanted.
In this six-week training programme, you will learn how to develop a clear and effective research message for your target audience. You will then make a video profile that tells the outside world what you and your research have to offer. This will be placed on the ScientistWanted platform and shared through the University’s channels. Your video profile is a showcase for you and your research: good visibility is the first step to more opportunities as a speaker or writer. You will also meet other researchers with the same passion for science communication, and you will become a member of the ScientistWanted community.
This time, the training will be in English, which means your video will also be in English.
The four meetings will take place between 10 April and 1 June.
- Wed 10 April 13:00-17:00 First meeting. Pitchtraining
- Wed 24 April 15:00-17:00 Second meeting. Feedback on pitch | Tips for filmmaking
- Wed 15 May 14:00-17:00 Third meeting. Feedback on first version of your video
- Wed 29 May 14:00-18:00 Endmeeting with festive closing
Location: PLNT, Leiden Centre for innovation and entrepreneurship. Langegracht 70, Leiden.
Alongside the four sessions, you will need 20 to 30 hours to make your video. Make sure that your supervisor agrees to you following this programme.
To follow the training, sign up before 5 April. There is room for 15 participants. Places will be allocated in order of registration. You will be added to the waiting list if the programme is already full.
